If you saw me or my work in the window...

Hello! I might have waved at you, but sometimes I don't notice when people stop, and if that happened, I'm waving now.

I've been really surprised by the reactions of people walking by while I work in my studio on the Herengracht. I honestly didn't think people would notice, or if they did, that they would stop. People are busy - on their phones, trying to get to where they need to go, trying not to get run over by bicyclists, managing children - so it genuinely surprises me when people stop, take pictures, wave, and even knock on the door.

And at first, tbh, it kind of freaked me out. I'm shy and kind of awkward, terrible at small talk, abysmal at coherently talking about my art. But the amount of support I've gotten from complete strangers has been life affirming and motivating, so thank you if you got to this site from the QR code in my window.

Not everyone has been thrilled with my work, to be clear. It's weird stuff, especially now that we live in Amsterdam. Something about this place produces intense and vivid dreams for me every night (the nipple spoon is an example of that). The world itself is exceptionally unhinged lately, and that leaks into my work as well. So I get it when people recoil. No artist is for everyone. But for those who watch me work with interest, I appreciate you.

On Sunday, I'm taking one of my sons to Bavaria, so probably all you'll see there for a week is half worked paintings, cats and tennis shoes. But I'll be back in the studio the following week, because there is much to do. My grumpy lady needs to be finished and packed off to her new wall in the US. I have bees to paint, and a nicotine addicted ghost to, er, flesh out.

Please feel free to contact me with questions about my work. I'm open to collabs and interesting commissions. And again, thank you!
